Glaciar Pio XI, the Southern Patagonia Icefield in Chile, December 20, 2024
This is the second time for me to visit the western coast of the Southern Patagonia Icefield.
The field site of our field campaign is Glaciar Pio XI, the largest outlet glacier in Patagonia.
Pio XI is unique as it is one of only a few advancing glaciers in the world.
After three day cruse on Pelagic, a small but cozy boat operated by Roberto and his crew,
Measurements and sampling were performed on the glacier and the fjord.
