A mountain ridge (nunatak) suddenly appeared ahead of us on January 19, telling us the termination of the inland high plateau. The route soon goes into an outlet glacier which flows down through a mountain range. It was the most exciting and spectacular day driving down from the elevation of 2500 to 1300 m. At the foot of the mountain range, we spent peaceful time at Svea, a Swedish small research base, enjoying a marvelous landscape.
This nunatak reminded me that the earth surface is not always white and flat
The route goes into an outlet glacier
We left the high plateu by descending 1500 m
We feel the air has changed after the descent
The 1000 m high cliff is damming the ice from the high plateu
We drove down one of the glaciers in the left
Due to snow sublimation, blue ice appears on surface
Ice flows down to the bare ice field
