++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Subject: [SICOPOLIS:125] BedMachine V4 topography for Greenland From: Ralf Greve Date: 2022-07-01, 13:37 To: SICOPOLIS ML Dear all, this is to inform you that SICOPOLIS now includes the BedMachine V4 topography for Greenland . I have downsampled it to resolutions of 4, 5, 8, 10, 16, 20 and 40 km, and the resulting input files are available in the Zenodo repository at . As always, no need for manual download; after a `git pull` update you can simply run the script get_input_files.sh to retrieve the stuff. As an example, the new run-specs header sico_specs_v5_grl16_bm4_ss25ka.h uses BedMachine V4 at 16 km resolution. Don't expect any great results though, it is still a simple steady-state test with SIA dynamics and without any tuning. To do so, `git pull` the latest revision from the develop branch and add #define NETCDF4_ENABLED 1 to the run-specs headers. See one of the headers in the 'templates' directory for an example. By default, the parameter is set to 0, which writes NetCDF-3 classic output as before. However, if your NetCDF installation has NetCDF-4 enabled, I encourage you to change to the new format as it saves a lot (~ factor 3) of disk space. I hope you'll like the new feature. Of course, should there be any issues, please let me know. It is my pleasure to announce that version 5.3 of the ice-sheet model SICOPOLIS (SImulation COde for POLythermal Ice Sheets) has been released earlier today. No new physics compared to version 5.2 (except for a framework for a spatially varying sea level), but a couple of changes on the technical side. Please have a look at the release notes @ AWI GitLab . As always, feedbacks are highly welcome, and I'll be happy to help in case of problems that may come up when using the program.
