It is my pleasure to announce that the official version 5.1 of the ice-sheet model SICOPOLIS (SImulation COde for POLythermal Ice Sheets) was released last Monday (30 Dec. 2019). The main new features are: o Support for the ISMIP6-Antarctica and ISMIP6-Greenland projection experiments , . o EPSG:3413 grid (polar stereographic, 70N/45W) and BedMachine Greenland v3 topography implemented for Greenland. o Shallow-shelf (SSA) / shelfy-stream (SStA) solvers: - Proper dynamic boundary condition for SStA at marine-terminating grounded ice fronts. - One-sided surface gradients at the grounding line. - Convergence control. o Regionally different values for the basal sliding coefficient possible. o New GHF maps for both Antarctica and Greenland. o Ocean connectivity enforced (avoids formation of 'ocean islands'). For more details see the commit logs at (revisions 1104-1566). A great thanks to the fellow developers who contributed to these features! On the SICOPOLIS website you will find further information, downloading instructions and documentation. Please note also the mailing lists (under "Support"). Feedbacks are of course welcome, and I'll be happy to help in case of problems that may come up when using the program.
